> requires both public and private locations where EV > charging is offered to provide "gasoline or diesel fuel for motor > vehicles through a pump to the public at no charge
The local electric utility (it's a PUD) installed two free 30 Amp EVSE pedestals at their office in town some time back. They made the classic mistake of placing the units ~exactly~ outside the entry door, so of course they were frequently ICE'd by other patrons. No signage, oh well.
While plugging in, I used to tease curious ICE customers that "the free gasoline (or diesel) pumps were being installed next month". Some of them took it seriously.
In Fall of 2020, both were removed. When I inquired why they had been removed from public use and replaced with Chargepoint stations (still exactly outside the front door), I was told that Management thought that is was discriminatory to provide free fuel to some customers, and not others, but *mostly* because they didn't want to compete with the other paid charging stations in town (all two of those). I pointed out that by giving away free charging, that they weren't competing with anyone, but now that they had paid EVSE, they were.
The removed pedestals were reinstalled behind the automatic-gate locked employee enclosure for the use of the workers in the office. I guess that's not considered competition...
Screw 'em, I charge at home on energy I produce myself. _______________________________________________ Address messages to ev@lists.evdl.org No other addresses in TO and CC fields UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/sub/index.html CONFIG: http://lists.evdl.org/options.cgi/ev-evdl.org ARCHIVE: http://www.evdl.org/archive/ INFO: http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org
