Even safer than a ramp or overhead wire would be to dig two holes on either side of the sidewalk, and then drive/drill a piece of electrical conduit under the sidewalk to run the cable. Depending upon your ground type, this may be easy to do by hand or just using an air pressure hose or water to do the excavation.
Jay This might be a solution in some places but in San Francisco it takes a 5 thousand dollar permit. I was thinking of a stealth line to my sidewalk tree and conceal it with grass but I didn't want to test the system/fine.
