Here's some background info for you, Susan. Seattle (actually Metro of King County) is in the process of converting to 100% electric by 2040. They have been testing EV buses for a few years and plan the first roll-out in 2021. You can get an overview here:
https://kingcounty.gov/depts/transportation/metro/programs-projects/innovation-technology/zero-emission-fleet.aspx

And here is a detailed report with lots of data that might be useful to you:
https://kingcounty.gov/~/media/depts/transportation/metro/programs-projects/zero-emissions-fleet/battery-electric-bus-implementation-report.pdf

I'm pretty sure Metro has been testing on hills. Our area is full of steep hills, narrow lanes, sharp corners, all kinds of route challenges. Plus our climate is chilly for a good part of the year, though nothing like what the northern plains and east coast gets. But certainly colder than Florida :) If it can work for Seattle, I can't imagine an argument against in Florida !

If it would help to speak to someone in the program, I might be able to find a contact. Not sure, though.

This is a question that can’t be answered on the basis of the information
given, and will likely vary by agency.

It suitability depends on a number of factors. Climate is one. The route is a
major factor, and whether or not the bus agency is able to or is willing to
change routes. The grades and length of the route is an important factor. I’ve
heard of some agencies that could run 80+ % of their existing routes on
batteries only, others less and others more.

Have a short route on a flat grade? Maybe it is suitable. Or, as happened in
California, try to put a battery electric bus in service in the mountains in
winter - a miserable failure (this was for some school buses).

electric buses are superior to hybrid buses in cost over time. The route is 11 miles.
Money is already earmarked for inductive charging. 250kw. Please contact Susan

I know from experience. EPA fuel economy website is one source. The Electric

We are digging around and looking at the numbers PSTA has used to show that
electric buses are cheaper.

Appreciate any information that you have.

Dear Commissioners and other concerned parties,

The route of 11 miles is perfect for 100% electric buses. There is funding for
inductive charging(10 minute time) as well as the buses. Why waste money on
hybrid buses? It is all paid for as well as the solar to power the system. The
millions granted will buy a lot of electric buses. Why go backward with more
expensive maintenance intensive hybrid buses? Save taxpayers dollars and make
your own power as well as cleaning the air at the same time. Lawrence Rhodes
