US pickup trucks are bloated, clumsy, crude, and not very efficient. By
world standards, they're not too great as work vehicles.

Cab-over pickups are all over Asia. They're not very safe, but then neither
are most pickups; and as work vehicles, Asia's are a lot more useful.

Just for fun, let's compare a Ford F150 with a Hyundai Porter II.

Ford F150
Curb weight: 4429lb
Payload: 1961lb
Longest bed available: 8' x 4.2' (between wheel wells)
MPG: 20 (EPA, combined)
Base price US$39,830

Hyundai Porter II
Curb weight: 3784lb
Payload: 1980lb
Longest bed available: 10.2' x 5.3' (flat, no wheel wells)
MPG (mt): 27 (9.6km/l, Korean standard, combined)
MPG (at): 25 (8.9km/l, Korean standard, combined)
Base price KRW 15,850000 (US$13,420)

I don't know of any Asian E-trucks in this class, but I haven't been paying
close attention.

In Europe, you almost never see tradespeople driving pickups (actually, you
hardly ever see pickups at all in Europe). They use vans of various sizes.
In vans, their materials and tools aren't exposed to weather.

The Renault and Nissan E-vans have been moderately sucessful; Peugeot and
Streetscooter (DHL), not as much.
