David sez > ... you end up with a pocket full of RFID cards and a bunch of
apps on your mobile phone ...<

Growing up in the late 1950's and 1960's, as a boy I remember when like an
accordion my Father would unfurl all the various credit cards he had when he
opened his wallet to pay (one for each brand of gas: shell, 76, chevron,
flying-A, many-more; sears, and other store cards, & many-more).
At the time, as a youngster, I thought, how wasteful (much like David's
disdain).

Then Visa, MasterCard, and other all-in-one plastic money came out, touting
one card replaces all others.

The problem of having to have a separate rfid card for each brand of public
EVSE plugshare.com shows, is a pain/bain drivers have had to endure for many
years. There have been some effort to allow EVSE-use payment via credit
card, or some companies offer payment through them (apps, apple-pay,
via-plugshare, +more)
https://www.google.com/search?q=electric+car+charging+payments
which comes back to David's point, EV-drivers need one easy way to pay for
any and all public EVSE-use.
