I have always had Farmers insurance and the agent made it clear that there is no problem to insure any car, conversion, hybrid, Salvage or not, for Liability, so I have insured in the past my EV truck and my Salvage-bought and restored Prius, a BMW 325i that I was going to convert but replacing the headgasket made it as good as new, a BMW 540i, a BMW 530i, a Geo Prizm and today a 2002 Prius and a different EV truck (conversion, bought salvage) and coming Sat a 2001 Prius.
Now, not all agents may have the same attitude - some insurances allow a lot of latitude by their agents to decide what they allow or not, so ask your local agents for a quote and decide based on that. I have a very responsive agent, just need to send him an email or call and leave a voice mail and he will respond back. That is the type you need. I'm swapping the lead-acid batteries for lithium, plus updating some of the electronics. But my old insurance company, SafeCo, has declined to insure the Saab, even though they'd been insuring my Geo EV for 8 years. My insurance agent is unable to find anyone here in Utah that will insure it. I even called Haggerty myself, but they said they don't insure electric vehicles. So I need help. Can anyone point me in the right direction? All I really need is liability. Thanks, Bill _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org For EV drag racing discussion, please use NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA) _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org For EV drag racing discussion, please use NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA)
