Hello,
we have same issue too (Win7pro, profiles on network share or local, FF
52.5.0 ESR 32bit, autoconfig active). Our workaround was:
- save bookmarks
- stop Firefox, 'task manager' shouldn't have any process of firefox
- delete all files in user profile
- start firefox
- restore bookmarks
or simply delete user profile and create new one.

Win2008R2-Terminalserver
FF-52.5.0esr (32bit)
And: Sometimes navigation especially in tls/ssl secured sites freezes for
some seconds, alternative browsers does not show those issues.
