Are you sure those numbers are ns and not cpu clock cycles?

Also you may want to ask Pico-Systems if the ppmc even has any chance of 
communicating as fast as you are wanting it to.  (and for a pp card 
recommendation.)

rt-preempt made no difference (well my HAL Latency Test are even better)

Unplugging the second ppmc card cut the time roughly in half (expected)

I conclude that the NetMos chips are just slow. sad. I can't even do  2KHz 
safely with these timings.
