I also wonder if all the noise in the commanded velocity using G33 could be
a result of the new trajectory planner (being better at lots of little
moves) send lots of commands in response to the changes of position at low
speed???

Not sure but I dont think there's any real TP involvement other than move
setup, sync and accel/velocity limiting. So during the thread pass, the Z axis
is just a scaled/offset version of the spindle position, so any velocity
modulation in the spindle speed is cheerfully copied to the Z axis motion
