You are correct to use the word fiddly. I already have a socket cut in 
micarta to hold them while they get a haircut.  I figure about a minute a 
chip once I get started.  And in ebony, any errors in the contour stick 
out like a sore thumb as it will be polished with 0000 steel wool making 
it glossy by the time a few coats of Sam's Stuff has been applied..
