I was thinking Modbus would offer the convenience of one or two pair cabling with the AVR able to set speed, run/stop, direction, but also return status information. A Modio or Arduino could do this, but I'm thinking if I can pare the hardware down to just what is needed for a non-Modbus VFD, I may be able to bring the price down to $30 or $40. On the other hand there may be no demand for such a thing. In which, I would just make up a few for my needs. I have one of these on order: http://www.ebay.com/itm/300547089436 I'd need to add an RS485 chip, some opto-isolators and terminals. The software could be: http://sites.google.com/site/jpmzometa/arduino-mbrt/arduino-modbus-slave or http://www.freemodbus.org/index.php?idx=32 A clever way to mount the board inside or on the VFD, as if it belonged there, would be nice, but I think the best I'll be able to do is have a separate box, which could bring the cost up. -- Kirk Wallace http://www.wallacecompany.com/machine_shop/ http://www.wallacecompany.com/E45/index.html California, USA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Virtualization & Cloud Management Using Capacity Planning Cloud computing makes use of virtualization - but cloud computing also focuses on allowing computing to be delivered as a service. http://www.accelacomm.com/jaw/sfnl/114/51521223/ _______________________________________________ Emc-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
