Isn't the patched emc2 kernel source available as a package? In the past I have found that generic kernels can have poor performance on processors that aren't particularly mainstream. I may have to do this because I would like to use EMC on a computer similar to yours. Speaking of mainstream, has anyone tried using some of the newer Intel boards for this, for example, an i7?
