This is a good argument for fitting home sensors and/or a probe.

My recent latency problem occurs at a high rate so appears immediately
after pressing reset on the latency test. I suspect this might indicate
where the problem might come from, but I haven't looked into it yet.

I really don't see a lack of PCI slots. Newegg or other dealers have
plenty of ATX or micro-ATX boards. Single board computers and backplanes
come up on eBay fairly often. The bigger problem is finding a
motherboard that will work with the current software. That's why it's
important for all of us to post our latency and hardware results to the
latency page to reduce the buy and try problem.

What would really be nice is to have an open hardware project for an
EMC2 optimized motherboard.
