Define your goals, test drive a 'fair subset', and make your choice. Getting input from the group is great, but don't expect to the 'one right answer' for you for all times. I worked for a company that had hundreds of Unigraphics workstations making engineering designs and having it go drive their CNC machine shop. For them, the Unigraphics with 'space balls' instead of normal 'mouse' was the right answer. Others I have seen, Autocad was the 'bees knees', and some folks swear by Bobcad. All are great in their arena.
