I didn't notice anyone laughing at you, but your opinion may differ from
mine.

Is the EMC2 computer connected to the internet? I re-read some of your
earlier emails, and it seems that you had trouble connecting (over pppoe
specifically). If you never connect to the internet, and never reload
the package lists (using the twin-arrow blue icon in Synaptic), then
your computer will never know if there are updates.

The install procedure lists a few basic things, like installing
build-essential and build-dep emc2. I'm pretty sure you didn't do those
steps.

If you have internet access on the EMC2 machine, then you should run
Synaptic, reload package lists, and install the update. If you don't
see any available updates and you are sure you have version 2.2.6
installed, then you have a problem in your APT source configuration
(which would make me wonder how you got EMC2 installed in the first place).

If you don't have internet access on the EMC2 machine, then you can
still update by downloading the package file and installing manually:
download
<http://www.linuxcnc.org/hardy/dists/hardy/emc2.2/binary-i386/emc2-dev_2.2.7_i386.deb>

and put it on a USB stick or other media that you can read on the EMC2
machine.
load that media on the EMC2 machine, right-click the file, and select
"Open with GDebi Package Installer"
click "Install Package" in GDebi (there should be no other files needed
to do this)

If this doesn't work, please let us know. You will get much better
response if, when you encounter a problem, you tell us what you did,
what you expected to happen, and what actually happened.
