Aren't you confusing M-RET and C-RET? At end of line, M-RET inserts the second headline right before the first one, i.e., between the first headline and its logbook drawer. OTOH, C-RET inserts the new headline past the whole subtree starting at the first headline, i.e., after the logbook. Regards,
