I had a Shure 444D desk mike and it is a great microphone. I used in on HW-101,
Drake TR-4, Kachina 505 DSP and Icom 756PROII. I have since migrated to Heil and
use it (boom microphone & headphones) with my venerable upgraded K3.
For transmit sound quality, the Shure is the better mic. I've used a
Yamaha CM500 boom mic headset for more than 15 years, and love the
convenience. I have to use a lot of TXEQ to get rid of the low end.
