Try contacting Bob, N6TV. He sells the "S" box and "Y" box for the Elecraft radios and amplifiers, which allow multiple serial and/or aux connections. I'd think he knows the actual physical interfaces of those units likely better than anybody.

He hangs out on the K4 mailing list in groups.io, but you can go to his QRZ page to get his email address and start from there.

Hope that helps.

I'm currently working on an Arduino project to control my KAT500 by sending commands to the PC Data port when various relay closures are detected. From examining the schematic of the KAT500 it would appear that the PC Data RX line will actually work with logic levels of +5(?) and ground and the TX line will produce +12 / ground outputs. I'm thinking there's no reason to fool with RS232 conversion or to try driving the PC Data with a USB to TTL converter when some simple buffering and level shifting of the pins of the Arduino itself will do the job. I'm pretty good with hardware but hopeless with software, so keeping things as simple as possible will be a good thing.Has anyone out there done direct digital interface to the KAT500?
