*Deadline Approaching - February 24, 2025* The Edmund Niles Huyck Preserve and Biological Research Station in Rensselaerville, NY is accepting applications for its *2025 Odum Internship in Field Ecology*. Working with the Preserve's Summer Research Fellow, interns learn from scientific professionals, conduct and present original research, and gain valuable environmental education experience through involvement in the Preserve's high school summer program. This is a six-week internship with housing and a $400 stipend provided. Those wishing to earn college credit for the internship must make arrangements with their college or university.
This year's Summer Research Fellow is Sarah Snyder, Ph.D. Dr. Snyder is an Associate Professor of Biology at Bard College at Simon’s Rock, in Great Barrington, MA. She has conducted field-based research that addresses conservation concerns for reptile and amphibian populations in the Caribbean, desert southwest, and northeastern U.S. Many of the ecological questions she is interested in are conducted collaboratively through research networks that actively involve undergraduate students. She is passionate about teaching and educational community outreach and serves on the board of the Berkshire Bird Observatory. Located approximately 25 miles southwest of Albany, NY, the Huyck Preserve is a non-profit organization dedicated to conservation, education, research, and recreation. As one of the oldest biological research stations in the United States, the Huyck Preserve has supported research continuously since 1938.
