The successful candidates will be expected to (1) teach undergraduate and graduate courses, (2) develop an active, externally funded research program focusing on fundamental and applied approaches to modeling environmental dynamics, and (3) provide statistical consulting to undergraduate and graduate students on their research activities. The positions will entail teaching campus wide undergraduate and graduate courses in Applied Statistics; and possibly a course in Forest Biometrics for students in the Forest Resources Management, Forest Ecosystem Science majors, and Master of Forestry graduate degree; and an upper level/graduate course in a subject area related to applied quantitative methods in environmental sciences. Starting Salary: $75,000, DOQ Required Qualifications:
* Ph.D. by start of appointment in Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, Quantitative Ecology, or a closely related field. * Commitment to diversity and inclusiveness in research, teaching and service activities. Preferred Qualifications: * Demonstrated capability as a teacher and mentor of both undergraduate and graduate students. * Demonstrated experience applying statistical methods in one or more areas of environmental science, natural resources, or ecology (e.g., forestry, fisheries, wildlife biology, climate science, or related fields). * A record of interdisciplinary collaboration in environmental science contexts, evidenced by publications, research projects, or applied work in areas such as forestry, fisheries, ecology, or similar fields. * Publications in high-impact journals and successful grant writing. * Experience providing statistical support in consulting or collaboration settings. * Capacity to teach courses in a variety of topics including but not limited to sampling methods, regression, non-parametrics, experimental design, and multivariate analysis. * Experience applying data science techniques (e.g., machine learning, statistical modeling, big data analytics) to address complex problems in environmental science and natural resources (e.g., biodiversity, conservation, climate change, forestry, fisheries) Application Procedure: Application materials are required to be submitted online and should include: (1) a cover letter, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) a 1-2 page statement of research interests and experience (4) a 1-2 page teaching statement and (5) a 1 page statement addressing how the candidate will contribute to SUNY ESF's Inclusion Diversity and Equity goals.
