The Center for Natural Resource Management on Military Lands at Auburn University is seeking a Natural Resources Specialist to be based at Fort Moore (Columbus), Georgia. The field-based position will support the Fort Moore Natural Resources Management Branch in their mission to sustainably manage the diverse natural resources across the ~182,000 acre Fort Moore military installation. The Natural Resource Specialist will work alongside other Auburn University Natural Resource Specialists and federal civilian biologists, foresters, and ecologists to perform a wide-variety of tasks. These include but are not limited to prescribed burning, timber marking, forest inventory, overseeing timber harvests, tree planting, and herbicide treatments, threatened and endangered species surveys and inventories, habitat surveys, and game species management actions. The ideal candidate would be pursuing or hold a Bachelor's degree in natural resources management, wildlife sciences, forestry, or related fields. Additionally, we are seeking a hard working individual who is comfortable working in challenging environmental conditions. The ability and willingness to learn from more experienced professionals is critical. While applicable experience is desired, it is not necessary. Extensive training will be provided to ensure the selected candidate can operate safely in the military training environment.
