Thank you all those who replied to my request for info/help. Sorry for
the late reply but we've had a very busy last week and not been able to
re-look at the problem.
To start with I could not understand why the NAS was not showing on the
router and hence the PC/LT. I'd checked connections and the nas was via
a Gb switch; just in case the switch had been damaged during the storms,
I connected the nas direct to router and then rebooted both the
router/nas. After a while both had booted and the nas was now visible
on PC! I'm assuming during the storms something caused the nas to drop
out and the router had not re-connected.
All seems fine now and I've found the file I was looking for (back in
2013 folder), Out of interest, later I'll put the leads back via the Gb
switch to see if that was the problem (the other connection were not
affected).
Thanks again.

Hi Clive,
How are you trying to connect to the NAS? Via DNS or IP address?
Are you able to ping it from either?
If you can ping it, try running an `nmap` scan, from memory the following
command should do that for you (substituting x.x.x.x for the device's IP):
nmap -sT X.X.X.X -Pn
It may take a little while to run, so don't worry if it doesn't seem to be doing
anything for a bit.
Thanks,
Rhys Woolcott.
