Evening all I am running Xubuntu 24.04 which is all upto date and I installed week ago.
I am trying to set the Clock to use Internet time rather than manually set. When I look at the time setting in Settings, the time configuration is set to Manual, if I set it to Syncronise with Internet time" it fails and asks me to install NTP and offer me an "Install NTP support " button, if I click the button I get a further error "GDBus. Errorrg freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.packagekit was not provided by any.service files"
I did go a head and install NTP (ntp, ntpspec, python3-ntp" it removed, systemd-timesyncd) but still does not connect
I can not find a ntp.conf (should be in /etc/ntp.conf ) but there is nothing there.
Tried reinstalling NTP but got the following error: mit@mit-ThinkPad-T530:~$ sudo apt install ntp [sudo] password for mit: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Reading state information... Done ntp is already the newest version (1:4.2.8p15+dfsg-2~1.2.2+dfsg1-4build2). So how do I get the system clock to sync with NTP Thanks in advance Tim H -- Next meeting: Online, Jitsi, Tuesday, 2024-12-03 20:00 Check to whom you are replying Meetings, mailing list, IRC, ... https://dorset.lug.org.uk New thread, don't hijack: mailto:dorset@mailman.lug.org.uk
