A few weeks ago, without knowingly making any change, we started getting these messages (as above) when opening Chromium. It was very simple to get around - simply type ESC. So it was only annoying, not a real problem. But I looked for a complete solution and there was only, repeated many times: enter your login password and then change the keyring(?) password to blank. But the login password was not accepted.

Today I looked again at fixing it. Just the same ineffective solutions. But I discovered that it is the app gnome-keyring that is enforcing the authentication. So I uninstalled it.

That has solved the "problem" BUT what dire consequences have I let myself in for?
