Answering myself. I thought it odd that I hadn't seen any updates for nearly
a week so I launched the updater manually.
Sure enough, there were a whole raft of updates to be applied, including
*Skype*. They've just finished installing and I now have a shiny new version
of Skype, apparently still working.
I think maybe they stopped pushing the updates while they sorted out the
problems. Hopefully, I didn't jump the gun too soon.
