My point here was, unless you're suppose to run (for example) Unbound on a CoAP device using DNS-over-CoAP then there is no need to full support DNS wire-format in CBOR. From the presentation it did not sound like this but then again I know very little about CoAP environments.
Going down this path, to fully support DNS wire-format in another format, feels a lot like cloning the camel.
