Additionally, I failed to realise that you can put the "dhcp-hostsfile=" line in your conf file (to avoid potentially hacking a distro supplied init file). I personally find this option more useful than /etc/ethers... And yes it does work nicely in practice. In fact on my Mac, leaving both adaptors live with the same IP address, mostly seems to work as you might desire. It does seem to occasionally flip flop between adaptors and on reflection I never thought to check that I'm not flooding the network with spurious arp replies... Obviously you are meant to disable one of the adaptors... Good luck Ed W
