> 1. Why choose Django over J2EE Clarity vs. complexity (I find J2EE over-the-top'ly baroque). using Python, I don't miss the compilation cycle in Java, and the astronomical number of JSRs numbs the mind.
> 2. Why choose Django over RoR I prefer Python's readability over Ruby. Otherwise, both offer the same sort of agility. > 3. Why choose Django over PHP PHP-raw is a maint. headache. Using some of the PHP frameworks (cake, etc) helps alleviate those problems, but I still prefer Python over PHP as a language. PHP does have the considerable advantage that every $2/mo shared hosting provider offers PHP, while you have to shell out a bit more for Django hosting. For any serious project, this isn't much of an issue, but Most of these advantages involve you the developer -- what language do you prefer, how are you hosting it, etc. Unless the client will be assuming maint. of the project and has a language preference (or the $2/mo hosting is an issue), it shouldn't matter much to them.
