The CLC checker flags lots of words, but does not give any help to
projects in how to replace them.

Whilst different contexts may require different solutions, it would
help to at least point to some pages where previously worked out
solutions are described.

Otherwise projects are likely to waste a lot of time trying to find a
suitable repalcement or just not bother.

All stick and no carrot.

There is no stick at all - no mandate or compulsion of any kind. The
carrot is the opportunity to make our communities more welcoming.

However that is not how it comes across.

Yes, so you said. I hope that this clarification helps.

This committee does not have the authority, or the power, or any means, to "force" projects to do anything. I would presume that that's pretty obvious, but, if it's not, we can certainly improve the phrasing on the site to make that clearer.

The CLC site links to the InclusingNaming.org, and, in particular,
https://inclusivenaming.org/language/word-list/

We can certainly make this more evident. I'll attempt to make the
'about' page less terse.

It needs to be linked from the analysis pages, and ideally problematic
words need to be linked to the suggested replacements.

Thanks. That's a great suggestion. Note, of course, that replacement suggestions are extremely context sensitive, and nothing is a simple s/foo/bar/g sed script. This is why we call it "conscious language" - because a conscious choice is required. And sometimes that choice is "Nah, it's fine how it is."

It should be made as easy as possible for projects to make changes
where these are appropriate.

Sebb.
P.S. The diversity site is not totally clean.

I don't know what this means. Can you please elaborate?
