My $company is moving to a new location, and part of that process is looking for a new ISP. I asked every one what their plan was to support IPv6. (Note, these are mostly companies that service businesses, not residential.) Some said "What's IPv6?" Some said "We can tunnel it for you." A few said the could give me a block of addresses. None said that they support it natively. The most useful answer was from Internap, who peers with dozens of carriers and does some fancy tricks to find best route to your destination. They said "We can give you a block of addresses, but only a few of the carriers support it so it probably isn't going to work the way you want it to. If the big regional and global carriers aren't supporting IPv6 yet, it doesn't really matter if your ISP does, it's still going to have to be tunneled somewhere. -- Perfection is just a word I use occasionally with mustard. --Atom Powers-- _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lopsa.org http://lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
