For that matter … anybody know how to get an IPv6 address, if your ISP doesn’t
simply give them out?

My first suggestion would be to get in touch with your ISP. All the big
carriers are looking at v6, some are actually talking about it, and some are
even beginning to support it. Which means that even if they're not handing out
v6 proactively, they might be willing to give you some v6 support as a willing
guinea pig.

The front-line customer service reps may not be conversant, but if you manage
to find the engineers and they aren't at least able to tell you what their
status is on v6, it's time for a new ISP. :-)
