One argument I put forward is that the Syntax is already known to Wikipedia editors. I find the look/feel/design to be clean too. The lack of strong ACLs in a negative (even with plugins). Fortunately it hasn't been a serious problem for any of the instances I've set up. Recent versions of Twiki are using a Mediawiki like syntax so it seems to be becoming an unofficial standard.
