Me too. Sigh.

It does, when in eval mode, it let's you write to the config setting that adds
a community string and/or trap destinations to the ESXi box, because it's
technically the full version, when you change to your full free license, it
makes that config setting read only

Nice hack, wish I had found it before my ESXi box was too old to switch back to
eval

Good luck with it

Oh wow. Wait, does this let you do full SNMP monitoring of the ESXi box? Cause,
yeah, if you have ESXi then SNMP monitoring is out.

One other thing to note, you need to setup an SNMP community string before
applying your free ESXi license, or it becomes unwritable, as ESXi free version
doesn't support SNMP monitoring :/

http://salawank.performance-weaver.com/?p=66 has the steps for getting SNMP
setup before applying your license

I haven't tried it yet, but:

There is also a "Dell OpenManage Offline Bundle and VIB for ESXi 4.0"
