If you haven't already, give the GPLPV ("ParaVirt") drivers for XP a quick try. They're supposed to help network and disk performance significantly: http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenWindowsGplPv > What I'm hoping to find out from people on this list is other suggestions on > what to use to virtualize XP under Linux or if Xen is what most people are > using. VMware tends to be friendlier to Windows, but if you want to stick with something Linux/Xen-based, you might also consider Citrix' XenServer 5.5. XP is fully supported on the platform, and Citrix provides their own mature set of ParaVirt drivers for Windows. I have a customer who moved a batch of old user XP desktops to a XenServer cluster, and the users are quite happy. > Secondly, I'm curious what people use for testing sites under Internet > Explorer (my devs all > use Macs, and I don't want to have them virtualize on their machines). Let someone else manage the virtualization for a small monthly fee, and your developers can quickly get the results they need: http://litmusapp.com/browser-testing http://crossbrowsertesting.com/ -- Joshua Penix http://www.binarytribe.com Binary Tribe Linux Integration Services & Network Consulting _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lopsa.org http://lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
