I had brought work cards, since I don't other wise have reason for them....but don't think I gave out more than a couple. Though I should treasure them more, since if I get future cards...they won't say Unix on them anymore.
(enterprise systems director interviews....so <those people> identify as windows systems administrators, and <these people> identify as Unix systems administrators, who takes care of Linux systems?) What I wish I had remembered was to not let the vendors scan my badge, since I was attending on my personal USENIX membership. (the bean counters had raised a big stink about what value was there in buying the USENIX membership that used to be included if you reg'd without a membership....didn't matter that back then that reg was the same if you opted out of getting a membership.) After I they had paid last year, it occurred to me should they really have benefited from the discount from my personal memberships.... Not going this year, because now its I have to pay for everything upfront...so didn't feel I could take on all the charges (namely hotel) this year pending reimbursement. So is it possible for us to read the badges ourselves...and does it directly contain our info? Asks the guy who doesn't currently have a smartphone....old one said enough last month and I still have <3 months on my contract. Though going to cave and get a new phone tonight. Though can't say I've really missed having the smartphone these past few weeks. Of course, I've said this during the months near the end of my smartphone contract the last few times....and end up getting a new one. -- Who: Lawrence K. I printed my own cards for LISA last year after I went under no affiliation. I put a qr code on the back that just took you to my linked in profile. Maybe if I had a cool blog site like Matt or Tom, having a qr code that took you there would be kinda nifty. It still feels old school to have business cards but we don't seem to have anything better. Carolyn Sent using a mouse-sized keyboard with feigned autocorrect intelligence.
