I use QR codes. Google Goggles to scan them. Thing is, most people don't have Google Goggles already installed. So printing the QR code on the back of the business card is the way to go. That way they can scan later, or lookup on linkedin, whatever they prefer. The QR code beats the pants off scanning with OCR. Much more accurate. But I still see lots of CEO's with admins with scanners on their desks. On android, I use Quickmark and QR Droid to generate codes. They both do the same things, but each is better in its own way. They make it easy to "send" somebody your contact info ... Or to generate a one-click desktop icon to display your "business card" instantly. Or to "send" them one of your contacts that's not yourself... Or send a specific app that you recommend they try... Or a webpage with long URL, or whatever. I don't know if they're encoding a v-card in the qr code. I only know I click "generate QR code from contact" and when they scan it, it's saved automatically in their contact list, free of any misspellings or effort of any kind. No fuss. Incidentally, URL is one of the fields that can be included. So if you have a link to your linkedin profile, then great. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list Discuss@lists.lopsa.org https://lists.lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
