if two shapes could connect and stick,
then I could change the text in each??

You can group a group - nesting. So you can always group the text at the
topmost level for easy access if you need to access it.

This way you have complete control over where in the group the text appears.
Otherwise, how would a developer decide where you want the test to be without
activating the mind meld function?

        Hello!

        What about grouping objects?
            Objects --> Group / Ungroup

        Maybe it helps your pourpose.

                Dia is great!!!!!!!

                I use it for diagramming constraint theory and its thinking
process.
                It misses one key function: the ability to connect shapes
themselves
                without using connectors so they stick at connection points.
                Once can sort of get around this by grouping but that's
cumbersome.
