| If you mean to just create an Icon for an already existing application
| but with a different execution parameter you can copy the applications
| .desktop file you can find in /usr/share/applications and modify the
| Exec line in that plaintext file aswell as the Name in the file.

First, thanks -- that was what I was looking for. That way I could, for 
instance, get xplanet to render an image of the moon with one icon, Saturn 
with another, and so on. Not earth-shattering stuff, but kind of fun, 
especially until xplanet-background gets fixed.

And you're right about changing the subject in the middle of a topic -- 
I've changed the subject line above so anybody looking for this 
information will be able to more easily find it.
