I did forget to mention that we're using OVS in the context of OpenWRT.
( Did not get to drink my coffee yet. )

The main/official package feed for OpenWRT is:
https://github.com/openwrt/packages/tree/master/net/openvswitch
The Makefile just specifies build rules to download, build and package
OpenWRT from the OVS Github repo.
