Yes, without a doubt, but it has nothing to do with archiving.

The discussion here is already huge, but we're not making any progress because 
we're talking too much about the details. 

If I, comparatively, have a file whose contents I want to update, what do I do?

1. I make a copy of the file first, just to be safe. 
2. I make the necessary changes to the file. 

And regarding the website and the wiki, we should first clarify how to do point 
1, where the term for this is not "copy", but "archive".
