Dear Peter Thank you for the excellent point.

If so I take my hat off to the translation service! > We mostly write and do not talk. This are two seperate skills. But talking with a different accent or not having the perfect sentence construction is preferable than using a language that very few people in the world understand... We do not have to speak perfect English as long as the message is transmitted. > I disagree. Only if we do not work to close the gap it will work > disruptive. So I thought of subtitles. > > If we can make an english audio track we will do so. Whatever we will > come up with we will try. That seems like a very fair proposal. And this could actually work because it will be an e-conference. > Please help me to convince Mechtilde and Michael that they can do it. I > am not the one who needs the reasurance. Actually for this e-conference you are right that subtitles can work (of course this will require them to have the presentation ready well in advance for translation and preparation of subtitles) But I would like to ask them (and all that participate in public presentations for OpenOffice) to make an effort to speak in the lingua franca. English is also not my native language but it is a very simple language (compared to Portuguese or German) and it is really not important if you have an accent ;) > And this is not only true for this case. This is true for all cases. And > if it is not clear it is for me no special offer, but the standard I > follow. Thank you for your perspective. I sincerely appreciate your different point of view!
