I see consensus on the general workflow and the only point where we
disagree is the location of the po files. A still minor detail from my

Not a minor detail; it may get huge over time. Rob wrote:

still be a reasonable layout when the languages take up 2.4 GB?'
And he is right. Sooner or later it has to move to a point in the tree
where it is not required to download it when you want to work on the
implementaition side. Why not do it now, from the beginning? We were all
happy to get rid of binfilter so the source to download got smaller, do
we want to blow it up again when only en-US will be used for building?
Another thought: It costs ressources - time, bandwidth, space on
everyones devices, on the servers - and thus energy in real life. I for
myself feel much better since we do no longer copy around binfilter, not
at last for a better ecologicat footprint --- please rethink putting it
in a decent place (whatever name) where for each usage only the needed
stuff needs to be downloaded, and be again ensured that this has nothing
to do with the value of different classes of contributions (which do not
exist from my POV).
Do I feel bad when someone only checks out a single *.po file, but not
the sources I was so hardly working on...? No, of course not :-)
Just my 2 cents...
Sincerely,
Armin
