There was paranoia, certainly, but I have not seen any credible argument against using screenshots from Windows or Mac. We might want, from an open source promotion perspective, to use open source platforms for creating our screen shots. But at the same time, an article for a Windows-focused tech journal would want the screenshot to reflect what their audience is familiar with.
