Hi,
Yes RegiCons are something that could be considered - I live in New Zealand - do you honestly expect people like me to travel all the way to Europe for a conference - maybe a conference for each main land mass/continent could happen every second year.
no, I don't expect that. I see it is a problem for many people to attend the conference, and by setting up fundings we try to help people. We also organized two RegiCons, and more are to follow.
I agree we should have OOoCons but you have to weigh everything up and sometimes tough decisions have to be made.
Sorry to be so rude, but: Cancelling the OOoCons is not a tough decision, it is just the wrong decision, the very wrong decision - at least in my opinion. We should do *more* real life conferences, not less.
Florian (and others with an interest) - what would you think about a conference in each region every year, a virtual con every year but 6 months after the Regional Conf, and a OOoCon every second year?
No. I'm all for a OOoCon *every* year, definitely. We really should not change that. I see it's a lot of work, but in the past, it worked out very well. I have no problem with RegiCons and virtual conferences in *addition* to a *yearly* OpenOffice.org Conference. But dropping the conference every second year in favor of a virtual conference is really no choice to me.
PS - Florian I apologise for calling you John before. I had just got off the phone to a friend named John and typed it into this email without thinking :)
No problem ;) Florian --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected]
