Hi JB,

Thanks for sharing the links to the ASF policies. I gave them another read.

Regarding trademark and brand use, we were granted permission to use
“Apache Iceberg” for both the Seattle and SF meetup as well as the Youtube
Channel (@IcebergMeetup) by Mark Thomas (VP, Brand Management from ASF).
For other meetups, I’m working with the event organizers to request
permissions from the ASF.

Regarding the Selection Committee, we’ve been working with Steven, Russel,
and Yufei for the Seattle and SF meetups. I think this is an area we can
improve on and I’ll make sure this is enforced in future meetups. For other
meetups, I’ll work with the event organizers and the PMC members to set up
a Selection Committee.

I agree we should add these resources to the guideline. It is critical for
everyone to know and understand the ASF policies. Thanks for your help!

Hi Yuya,

Great to hear about the local event in Japan, hope the above doc can be
helpful and I’m happy to help as well!

Regarding using the Youtube channel for streaming, this is a feature I
recently learned about. We plan to livestream the upcoming Bay Area event
on 1/30 on Youtube <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuHGzBvk0BA>. We will
also upload the recording to the channel afterwards.

We can definitely add non-English speaking content to the channel. There
are different playlists <https://www.youtube.com/@IcebergMeetup/playlists>
created for different locales.

Happy to chat more about setting this up.

Best,

Kevin Liu
