Only problem I see with SVG is that it does not seem to support 9-slice scaling which FXG does so well.
Other than that it should be possible to switch to SVG and keep Flex future safe. Btw, I currently use Illustrator CS5 for exporting stuff. Does the new Illustrator versions still support FXG export?
