The original intent was a place for components that have not been fully tested, been fully localised or not fully documented but in a good working state. It was hoped by releasing them in this way other people would step forward and help out with the missing bits. At that point that could be moved into the apache project or one of the other projects depending on best fit. Thanks, Justin
