1B would not apply in this case, at least as I envisaged it. As others have noted, the headset prevents itself as a USB device and then provides a data stream to be interpreted in userspace. The exception in 1B was for lower-level things like wifi chipsets. And, as Vlad says, that post is only my opinion (albeit one on which I have received positive feedback), not official Mozilla policy.
