(Not replying to anyone in particular, just replying to the lastest email in this thread at this point: ) Let's not transform the original conversation here, which was purely a technical conversation about improving the way we do compositing on Linux, into a prioritization conversation, which would not belong on dev-platform.
One data point that Karl provided here is purely technical and needs to be taken into account in this technical conversation well before one would start talking priorities: newer types of Web content, e.g. WebGL, may mean that not having OpenGL compositing may become less and less viable going forward.
