Hi Ben,
Thanks for clarification. I think your feedback + Justin's input then
actually does give justification to create a new "platform component",
migrate the existing bugs that are b2g platform general into that
component, and leave the general component to act as a "I don't where to
file this bug" component.
Here's the actions I'm pulling out of this discussion then:
1. Create a component under BootToGecko titled "Platform" that will hold
all platform-oriented bugs that don't fit into the core that are b2g
specific
2. Move existing bugs (heavily from the general component) into the
platform component that fit the platform bug criteria
3. Rename the general component and description to be "For b2g bugs that
need help finding the right place to go or do not fit into any b2g
bugzilla component"
Does that work?

A very large number of Gecko bugs get filed under Gaia::Browser as the

I spend quite a lot of time triaging the Gaia::Browser component and
moving bugs to the General component. I imagine there are also people
who spend a lot of time triaging the General component and moving all
the obvious Gaia bugs into the Gaia component and have to read through
all the platform bugs I've already identified!
I think it would make everyone's life easier if there was an explicit
"Platform" component for bugs which are Boot2Gecko specific, but are
likely not Gaia bugs. The General component is still useful for users
who have no idea where the bug should be filed. Bugs in the Platform
component may eventually end up in Core or elsewhere, but at least
they're getting closer to the eyes that really need to see them.

Hi Everyone,
A problem that appears to be happening by our bug filers is
confusion over what should be filed in the BootToGecko --> General
component. I've seen a good amount of bugs end up in there that
were obvious Gaia bugs. I'm wondering if the root cause of issue
is perhaps that we're calling the name of the component General,
which implies a default filing location. The bugs I've seen in
that component are typically tracked on the platform side, so I
think we should make that distinction clear (i.e. platform level).
The proposal I have is to change the name of the component from
"General" to "Platform," as that would give better indication to a
bug filer that bugs go there are general bugs about platform of FF
OS that don't fit into a Core component.
Thoughts?
